We have a bird feeder on our deck and we spend many happy moments watching the gathering of birds especially as a storm is approaching which is weird. Because we see more birds just before and then during a snow storm than on any sunny day. It’s a fascinating ecosystem. The wren and house finch shake seeds to the ground as they look for what they like. This allows the juncos and chickadees to peck their dinner from the ground. The nuthatch and bark hoppers hang upside down on the feeder to reach in. Downy woodpeckers only want the sunflower seeds and of course the brilliant cardinals watch over the whole scene. There is a unique harmony to this avian circus. Amazingly all these different birds end up getting their fill!
